Nathan Cheney is a versatile filmmaker, director, writer, and producer with a deep passion for storytelling across various platforms and genres. Raised in Southeast Kansas, he pursued his love for cinema at Columbia College Hollywood, where he earned a B.F.A. in Cinema Television.
Cheney has a wealth of experience, having story-produced and edited over 1,000 segments for People Magazine's TV show, People (The TV Show). As the Senior Producer for a UK-based video advertising agency, he led production teams both domestically and internationally, contributing to the development of content for major brands like Amazon, FabFitFun, and NextDoor. His extensive network experience includes work on productions for National Geographic Wild, ABC Studios, Warner Bros., and live events such as the Olympics, Emmys, and Golden Globes.
His feature comedy script, "Mixed Up," which explores the complexities of growing up mixed-race in the Midwest, was a semi-finalist at the Sundance Lab and Austin Film Festival and a finalist for WeScreenplay Diverse Voices. Cheney also directed and produced "Baker's Boys," a comedy pilot featuring comedians Tony Baker and Orlando Leyba.
In 2018, Cheney wrote, directed, edited, and produced the feature documentary A Fatherless Generation, which received international recognition for its focus on at-risk youth. The documentary was screened at various festivals across the U.S., including the Napa Valley Film Festival, where Cheney earned a director's residency.
Currently based in Los Angeles, Cheney enjoys spending his free time hiking, cooking, and savoring a strong cup of black coffee.
